A Consulate clock

Consulate skeleton clock by the belgian (Brussels) clockmaker Dumoulin. The main dial shows the hours, minutes, seconds and day of the month. Other dials show the phases of the moon, days of the week and months. Enamels are by Henri-François Dubuisson in Paris.

This amazing astronomical clock was made in 1838 by the parisian clockmaker Potu. Its main dial shows hours and minutes and the small one inside shows seconds. The three upper dials show (from left to right) the phases and age of the moon, the days of the week with their astrological sign, and the equation of time (real time of the sun related with medium time). A calendar with the Zodiac signs is engraved on the edge of the flat disk who makes its turn in one year. The globe (scale 1:65.000.000) rotates daily and has a steel ribbon showing a scale of latitudes. A little golden ball on a steel wire shows the sun position and declination.
